December Favorites

With all the craziness of the holidays, it seems like the December days have flown by.
Here are some of my favorites this month.
Enjoy!
{Favorite Accessory: Bracelets}

 | Bracelets: Eastcraeft | Scarf: Marley Lily |
I have been loving bracelets this month & these are two of my absolute favorites.
I purchased both of these beauties at Eastcraeft & just may be slightly obsessed with their accessories.

{Favorite Nail Polish: Sinful Colors - Aubergine}

| Sweater: Old Navy |
I picked up this color at Target a couple weeks ago & have been wearing it non-stop since then.
The perfect red for the holiday season.

{Favorite Snack: Cliff Bar - Pecan Pie}

Remember those weird Little Debbie Oatmeal Pie things that you ate as a child?
I never really liked them because the strange greasiness of them weirded me out.
However, these Pecan Pie Cliff Bars taste very similar to them.
I'm a huge "bar" fan & these happen to be the perfect texture & just delicious in general.

{Favorite Lip Product: Nyx Soft Matte - San Paulo}

| Shirt: Forever 21 |
I'm a huge lip product fan & happened to purchase this one the other day on a whim.
I can honestly say I'm officially obsessed with it.
The soft matte leaves the perfect finish & I'm not joking when I say it lasts all day long.
I purchased mine at Ulta for $5.99, however you can also find some of the Nyx products at Target.

{Favorite Bag: Vintage* Dooney & Bourke}

I purchased this Dooney & Bourke bag off one of those Facebook Yard Sale pages for only $15.00.
I repeat $15.00 freaking dollars.
I really like Dooney & Bourke, but I like it even better when I can find a super awesome deal.
It happens to be the perfect size, fitting everything I need in it without feeling like it's weighing my shoulder down.
It just may hold the title of my Favorite Bag Ever.

{Favorite Shoes: Hunter Boots - Bright Coral}

I have been lusting over Hunter Rain Boots for years now & I am so blessed to have received a pair for Christmas.
The Bright Coral color is BEAUTIFUL.
& I would be lying if I said I haven't worn them every day since then....

The Woman Who Changed The World

{Beautiful. Strong. Kind. Unique. Silly. Loving}

Renae Rose

I have sat at my computer staring at the screen many times within the past couple weeks contemplating what to write.
However, I've come to the conclusion that there is no space large enough, not enough time
& never enough words to express everything I could say about Nae.

She once pinned a quote on her Pinterest that said,
I am the one who has to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live the life I want to
& that was exactly what she did.
She was the living definition of a free spirit.
& truly held her own.

People dream about the lifestyle she lived.
She wanted to experience living in another country, so she packed up & off she went.
She didn't think, she did
She didn't spend time over analyzing & worrying.
She lived every moment of her life.
She was the most caring & generous person I have ever known.
& could put a smile on anyones face just with her presence.
She always, always, always, put others before herself, even in her worst days.
& anyone could see that she cared so deeply for the ones she loved.

{She taught me that life is about living}
Don't wait around for things to happen. Go out & make them happen for yourself. Be free. Make mistakes. Travel the world, see new things, meet new people. Fall in love. Be confident in yourself.
But most of all, be happy as often as you can.
Life is too short not to be

My heart aches from the pain of missing my beautiful aunt.
But the part that makes this just a little bit easier, is the fact that she would want me to live
She would want me to be laughing, & smiling, instead of shedding tears
& she would do anything to change that.
I miss the crazy texts, & the stories of her adventures, her wise advice, weird panda obsession,
& crazy colored pants.
I miss the laughs & the silly moments.
She knew me better than I know myself.
& always knew exactly how to put a smile on my face.
But most of all, I miss her being there at any minute of the day
& that's the thing that hurts the most.
Before, I could never imagine my life without my aunt, my god-mother, my best friend, my Naenae.
But now I have to live it.
I know she's watching over me, protecting me, loving me from afar, supporting my choices, shaking her head when I listen to Taylor Swift, & reminding me to be my bravest & true self.
I know she would be so proud.

{She once sent me a quote that said}
•All nieces are brilliant and beautiful... and obviously take after their Aunt
& as funny as that is,
I can only strive to be half the person that she was someday.

Death is a funny thing.
It leaves you hopeless. It leaves you paralyzed. It leaves you broken.
The hardest part of it all is allowing yourself to grasp on to the fact that the person you love is gone.
You deny it.
You deny every. single. second. of. it.
& that tears you apart over & over again.
One second they're there & then another second they're not.
You grasp on to every single little thread, hoping that it isn't true.
But instead, you watch those little threads tear & slip away from your fingertips one by one.
Nothing ever feels real.

It doesn't feel real when you hear the news.
When you pick out pictures & lay out your nicest black dress.
 Or even when you stand up at the funeral trying to find the words to explain how truly extraordinary one human being can be.

After everything is over, you are thrown back into reality & continue your every day life.
You go through the motions, but nothing is ever the same.
& then it hits you.
•When you least expect it to

When you're waiting for a text that never comes.
When you look at picture & realize that there will never be one taken like that again.
When you plan for holidays & for the first time, they're not on the list.
When the tears flow down your face like they never have before
& you comprehend the fact that they really are, in fact,
Gone.
It feels real when you pick up the phone & recognize that they're not on the other end, nor will they ever be again.
You will never hear that voice, see that face, or even be there in front of you to laugh & hug.
It feels real when you finally comprehend the fact that the person that was always there, isn't anymore.
That moment right there is when your heart shatters into a million pieces,
over & over & over again.
& just when you think you can't take it any more,
{even though it doesn't make it any easier}
you realize that they never really truly left you.

They're with you. Every day.
Small signs that you never noticed before.
Speaking to you in different ways.
Protecting you.
Watching you.
Loving you.
You realize life goes on.
You don't just wake up one morning & the pain is gone.
It's always there, but you learn to adjust.
You honor them. Cherish them.
You hold the memories close & you learn to live in a new way.
Because a little piece of you will always be missing

Life is short.
It's crazy, it's wild, & it's beautiful.
& as difficult as it is, some days you just have to pull yourself up, go out & live it.
 Live it for the ones that can't.
Surround yourself only with the people that make your life positive.
Look around & take a deep breath in.
When you look back, is this life you would have wanted for yourself?
{Embrace every moment, be the happiest you, love many, laugh a lot, & do everything you love}
Erase the superficial.
LIVE
Enjoy every moment of your crazy, beautiful, gift that you have been given.

Marley Lilly

•She believes a monogram says more than a name & will use it any place she can•
 - Winnie Jean

I have been a monogram lover ever since I discovered them a few years ago.
Last year I even monogrammed my binders. Sure, I got a few strange looks from people & the usual "What even is a monogram?"
But let me tell you, they were fabulous & I carried them around with pride.
My parents also gave me a beautiful monogrammed necklace for my birthday last year {Featured in my Friday Favorites a couple weeks ago} that I wear regularly.
I thought my addiction was real, but when I found the Holy Grail of monogram sites, Marley Lilly {https://marleylilly.com} a couple of months ago, it took it to a whole other level.
I would be lying if I said that I didn't stalk Marley Lilly on a regular basis.
How can you not though? It's every monogram lovers dream.
 Featuring everything from water bottles & scarfs, to jewelry & shoes.
{ Plus, super adorable stickers }
They also have a free app that you can use to shop or make fabulous monogrammed phone backgrounds!

Last week I received this beautiful Monogrammed Tassel Bracelet from no other than the wonderful, Marley Lilly.

This bracelet is something that I would never think to order for myself.
 However, when I received it in the mail, I instantly fell in love.
The classy script writing of the monogram against the unique tassel make for a fascinating & gorgeous mix.
It's an effortless statement piece that adds just the right amount.
{ Styled with a simple white dress, black tights, tan booties & a red plaid shirt
it makes a perfect accessory for any casual outfit }

While stunning on its own, the Monogrammed Tassel Bracelet is such a versatile piece that also looks great with some layered arm candy.
{ Styled with a black dress, fake-fur vest, & layered pearl bracelets,
it adds the perfect amount of drama to the look }

There is so much to love about this company, but one of the attributions I love most about Marley Lilly is the quality of their pieces.
The prices are fantastic & the products will hold up to the wear time & time again.
It is impossible to go on https://marleylilly.com without finding something that you love.
Marley Lilly also features many "Flash Sales" on a regular basis
that are impossible to resist.
Plus, with the holiday season coming up what makes a gift more personal than a monogram!

20 Facts About Me

You may know the basics about me, but here's a few things many of you don't know...

1. When I was little I thought working in a grocery store would be the coolest job ever.

2. I have never broken a bone.
3. I have always hated getting my picture taken. My past school pictures can prove it.

 I told you.

4. I put fake eyelashes on for my Senior Homecoming & couldn't get them off for three months.

5. There is no food I hate more than cooked cauliflower.
6. I was in a different reading class in 1st grade because they thought I couldn't read. However, I was really just stubborn & refused to. One day I decided that I actually would & then got taken out of the class.
7. Even though my sisters, cousin, & I have grown up. We're more immature at family holidays than we've ever been & I love it.
8. I had a pet rat named Boots. He chewed my curtain in half.
9. I use to be a slight hoarder. Everything can be turned into a craft, right?...
10. I have a scar on my forehead from when I uncontrollably rode my bike down a hill & cut my head with a stick.
11. In elementary school I played the violin. However, I never actually learned the songs, fake playing the entire time. I only liked it because I got to dress up for the concerts.

Typical.

12. I love to travel, but have a fear of flying.

13. When I was younger, every year for Christmas I asked for an ice cream truck.
14. I hate cake.
15. I cried when my parents told me where bacon came from & proceeded to wear a pig hat for the rest of the day. Young Claudia was very traumatized.
16. My sister & I use to dress up as elderly people & loved every second of it.
My eyes also apparently didn't like to stay open.

17. I thought I could be cool & paddle standing up in a kayak a few summers ago. I fell out & my sister floated away.

18. When I was little I cut my hair & hid it in a plastic desk while my family was in the next room over. Not a very well thought out plan.
19. My first week of my freshman year in high school, I fell down the stairs, got hit with a door & got hit in the face with a locker.
20. I have always loved to sleep.

 Even if that meant taking a nap in a plastic doll bed.

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my life!

Friday Favorites: October 24th + Feminism

This week's Friday Favorites is going to be a little different here on the
Live Bright. Be Bold. & Sparkle. blog.
Instead of my multiple favorites like usual, I only have one this week & this happens to be it.

Potty-Mouthed Princesses Drop F-Bombs for Feminism

You may have seen this video being shared around, receiving a lot of attention & controversy do to the fact that it features multiple young girls swearing.
Many people have very strong opinions on the language these young girls are using, however what really should disturb them, is the facts that are the sole purpose of this video.
Women face gender inequality every single day of their lives in many different instances.
For example, as this video shared, women are paid 23% less than men for the same work, please tell me how much sense that makes.
& if that doesn't say anything, in many cases, women that graduate with straight A's get paid the same as men that got straight C's.
We're teaching girls that bad grades = more bank, based solely on the fact that they're male.
Instead of waistlines defining women, why don't we focus on something else. Like hmm, I don't know, maybe their brain

Image source: Pinterest

After watching this video, I decided to scroll down the YouTube page to read some of the comments.

To say I was disgusted would be an understatement.
It featured many things like, "These girls will be whores in no time" or "Teach the women how to act like ladies and not dress like a hooker on the streets that would help too."
Why is it that when women finally stand up for themselves they're automatically labeled as "whores" or "sluts"?
Last time I checked, that didn't seem very "equal" to me.

Image source: Pinterest

As a senior in high school, I spent half of the year completing a project on women's self confidence & the impact the media has on it.
We teach women of all ages that they have to perfect, that you have to be skinny, you have to be sexually appealing to men, & it's a must to act the way men want you too, or else you'll be called degrading names for it.
I'm not saying that I completely blame men for the way they treat women, because our society has trained them to view & treat women as an objectified object. However, there has to be a time when everyone needs to realize that this is NOT okay
& what better time than now?

Image source: Pinterest

Feminism.

It's a word that holds many negative connotations that seem to be continuously growing. Referring to women that are Feminist as "Men Haters" is one of the most common.
However, I find this very hard to believe, when the literal definition is....
fem·i·nism : the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities
{http://www.merriam-webster.com}

Emma Watson did a truly magnificent job in her speech addressing gender equality.
If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend you do.

When girls are young we teach them that being "bossy" is bad.
 We teach young boys to not "run like a girl" because being a girl is a bad thing & not to express their feelings because it means their weak
We instill in teens that their bodies should be nothing less than perfect
We teach women not to dress certain ways because we're
 "asking for it" when it comes to sexual assault & rape.
Which by the way, happens to 1 in every 5 women.

Image source: Pinterest

Why should women have to live their life in fear?
Why should I have to be afraid when I go for a walk alone fearing that something may happen to me?
Why should I be told I can't wear something because it's
"too distracting for males"?
 Why should I feel 10x happier when someone tells me that I look like
I've "lost weight"?
Why is my level of intelligence worthless when compared to a male?
Why is it that when I stand up for myself, I am automatically called a bitch, no matter what the impact of the words coming out of my mouth are?
When is this nonsense finally going to change?

I am a Feminist & I am damn proud of it.

Rainy Day Essentials

Rain. As dreary as it is for some people. I love it.
It completely justifies cuddling up with a good book & a cup of tea all day long.
Here's my essentials for any rainy day.

Image source: Pinterest

A good pair of rain boots are a must
When you can't stay inside all day, you need pair that does the job but are cute of course.
These adorable hot pink ones from Hunter need to make an appearance in my life in the near future.

If you know me well, I have multiple journals that I keep around. I love being organized so each one serves a different purpose.
On rainy days like today, I love to sit by the window, listen to the rain, open them up & write.
& of course I can't do that without my favorite cup in my other hand.

There's just something that makes you feel so at peace when listening to the rain, reading a good book or magazine, & burning a candle.
I have genuinely been enjoying Lea Michelle's Brunette Ambition
 that was featured in my Friday Favorites a couple weeks ago
& of course Food Network magazine.

Last but not least, it's impossible to spend your rainy day without a fuzzy blanket & lots of movies.

Enjoy your rainy day everyone!

Friday Favorites: October 17th

I hope you all had a wonderful week!
Here's this weeks favorites.
Enjoy!

Favorite Accessory: Bubble Necklace

I purchased this necklace around this time last year & still wear it on a regular basis.
Such great quality & makes any simple outfit pop.
I purchased this one & two others on an Etsy shop that no longer exists.
However, you can still find different ones that are very similar.

Favorite Tea: Oregon Chai

I am a huge chai tea lover & this powdered Oregon Chai mix is AMAZING.
I mix the powder with a splash of milk & then add my hot water, resulting in foamy deliciousness on top.
With a sprinkle of cinnamon, it's the perfect start to any morning.

Favorite Shoes: Target Booties

I purchased these from Target last winter.
Whether you're wearing skinny jeans or tights, they're the perfect little boots for fall.

Favorite Lip Product: Maybelline Color Whisper, A Plum Prospect

This plumy purple is beautiful for fall or winter time.
Maybelline's Color Whisper line is one of my ultimate favorites due to the fact that the color stays on for hours & the consistency feels way more like a chapstick on your lips opposed to a lipstick.
